The Bikeriders’ first trailer stars Tom Hardy and Austin Butler

Jeff Nichols’ ‘The Bikeriders’, starring Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy, hits theaters December 1 after making a spectacular debut at Telluride last week. And you can now check out a brand new trailer (above) to really rev up your engine.

Based on a 1968 photo book of the same name by Danny Lyon, The Bikeriders is told from the point of view of Kathy (Comer), a member of a 1960’s motorcycle gang who marries a handsome new member named Benny (Butler). . As the nature of the motorcycle gang changes, so does Benny’s relationship with the group’s unpredictable leader, Johnny (Hardy). Outbursts of violence, great pompadours and lots of cool leather jackets. What more do you want?

Incredibly, this is Nichols’ first film since his back-to-back triumphs in 2016 – the sci-fi chase Midnight Special and his Oscar-nominated period drama Loving. Nichols spent a long time working on a new version of Alien Nation, the 1988 sci-fi buddy cop film directed by Graham Baker and starring James Caan and Mandy Patinkin. However, this project was shelved after Disney acquired the 21st Century Fox assets. He was also set to write and direct A Quiet Place: Day One, a spin-off of the main series, but dropped out due to creative differences with the studio (he was replaced by Pig director Michael Sarnoski).

The Bikeriders, like all of Nichols’ previous works, features a performance by Michael Shannon, with additional roles by Mike Faist (who appears to be playing a Lyon substitute), Boyd Holbrook, Damon Herriman, Beau Knapp and Karl Glusman and Norman Reedus, an avid cyclist in real life. The film was received very positively by Telluride, and the film is currently carrying one 90% on Rotten Tomatoesusing words like “striking,” “intoxicating,” and “oddly poignant” to describe Nichols’ new film.

“The Bikeriders” hits theaters exclusively on December 1st.
