Despite the rumors, Urban Meyer will not be the next head coach at Michigan State. Despite all logic, we shouldn’t behave like this Michigan State has not become a place where many would welcome him with open arms. Draw the border Meyer after employment Larry Nassar And Mel Tucker isn’t evidence that things have changed – it’s an example of how low the bar is set in East Lansing.
Unfortunately Urban Meyer becomes coach again | Google is free
On Tuesday, Bernie Fratto – a national radio host for FOX Sports – reported that his top mole told him that Urban Meyer would be doing an interview with him Michigan State for her position as head coach. “Stay tuned. Yes, it’s real. It’s possible. He has a lot of supporters, so we’ll see where this goes.” he posted.
On Wednesday, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic took to social media to refute Fratto’s news. “About the ‘reports’ linking Urban Meyer to the Michigan State HC job…I just checked with him. There is no truth to that considering he is a candidate for it. He has no interest in that and is happy with what he is doing now at Fox Sports.” he posted.
Then Fratto doubled on social media conclude Meyer was actually in East Lansing this week.
Maybe Meyer was there and maybe did an interview. Maybe he did something for FOX Sports. Maybe he wasn’t there at all and this is the latest internet rumor fueled by a media representative posing as a journalist. Or maybe it’s the latest example of how bad things have gotten on this campus.
It’s not your fault if people make up lies about you. However, if you subscribe to the theory that there is some truth in every lie, that means you have laid a foundation. And if you failed in the treatment of Nassar and Tucker, the idea that Meyer could be employed at the same school isn’t too far-fetched.
Without going into what has already transpired with Tucker and Nassar – which has been widely reported on this site – the idea that Meyer could even be interested in Michigan State is a fantasy for several reasons.
For one thing, Michigan State isn’t a “football school” where Meyer spent most of his college career coaching, at Utah, Florida and Ohio State. Second, Michigan State isn’t good enough for Meyer to consider. Despite his morals, he is a legendary college coach and there has never been anything legendary about Michigan State football. And last – without addressing how ridiculous his short stint as an NFL coach was – Let’s not forget what happened the last time Meyer was employed on a college campus. He was exposed and then fired Retiring for “health reasons” because he was a long-time domestic violence advocate ended his college career – and that’s the last thing Michigan State needs from an overpaid coach, right after an overpaid coach who was for good A rape survivor was fired because of allegations of sexual harassment.
The world of college football is a wild place. Crazy things happen on the field and at the tailgate every Saturday. That includes rumors running amok, meaning we may never know if Urban Meyer really had a hand in East Lansing. What we do know is that if Michigan State leadership is bothered by the idea of someone like Meyer being associated with them, then Michigan State needs to stop portraying itself as the usual suspect when bad things happen on college campuses happen.
